More fares from the Lufthansa Group and this is the best First Class fare I have ever seen. This will probably go quick, so don’t procrastinate! They are companion fares (2 adults must be booked together) booked direct with Swiss. The ones worth your attention are flying Swiss and Lufthansa from Stockholm (or for a bit more from Oslo) to Shanghai or Beijing, both around the £1,580 / €1,850pp.
What: Travelling from Stockholm Arlanda ARN to Shanghai and Beijing in First Class with the long-haul segment on Swiss and Lufthansa. Cheapest Shanghai route I found was £1,578/€1,843pp and Beijing £1,583 / €1,850pp. Note the short-haul elements of these trips will be in Business.
Offer: The fare rules say 2 adults must be travelling together and indeed, I was unable to get these fares on a solo ticket. The fares are to Beijing and Shanghai flying the long haul segment on Lufthansa or Swiss.
Availability: Valid for on or before 30 Sep ’20. Minimum stay 6 days and maximum stay 3 months. No stopovers over 24hrs allowed, but unlimited transfers and open jaws (within the same country) permitted.
Book By: 2 Dec ’19.
Book direct on Swiss Airlines. You will need to be booking for 2 Adults to get the fare. On the final selection box, “Airline”, make sure that “Lufthansa Group” is selected.
You will need to play around with different flights to get a good deal, as not all flights are valid. When you click ‘Calculate’ you are looking for something in the region of 20,000 SEK.
To get the best rate, pay in the local currency (Swedish Krona) and use a credit card with a 0% foreign transaction fee, for example, I personally use the Halifax Clarity Mastercard.
You will need to position yourself in Stockholm first. British Airways flights from London Heathrow are as little as £66 return.
Maximum Extravagance, Minimum Cost
Sample itineraries are below, there is good availability on dates for these.
Mix up airlines
For a wider experience, why not mix up the airlines you fly outbound versus inbound? You can then compare SWISS and Lufthansa First Class!
Give yourself enough time on the ground
As I mentioned in my post on the ultimate First Class, the ground experience from SWISS (Zurich) and Frankfurt (Lufthansa) is up there amongst the best First Class experiences in the world. So give yourself a lengthy connection to max out on these!
Why not stay overnight in Stockholm, Zurich or Frankfurt?
Some of the routings give you a night in Zurich or Frankfurt (less than 24 hrs). You could also consider an overnight stopover when positioning in Stockholm. If staying in Stockholm, it is worth trying to get a First Class Limousine (although it says it is only for residents).
